I'm working on the Kythe project to help provide developers with powerful tools to better understand their code bases, no matter how large they are. You can see this in action at https://source.chromium.org, https://cs.android.com, and https://cs.opensource.google where Kythe powers the cross-references you can use to understand where and how functions, classes, etc. are used in the code bases.
